Section B - electric vehicles

As London’s busiest borough, with one million extra visitors each day, Westminster suffers some of the worst air pollution in the UK. The council’s commitment to supporting the city-wide switch to electric vehicles is set out in the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Strategy 2020.  It has resulted in a successful and ongoing roll out of charging points for residents, visitors, and local businesses. London has 9.9 million drivers, and 370 million miles driven each year in Westminster alone.

Electric vehicle drivers in Westminster benefit from approximately 1,000 on street electric vehicle charging points.  We are leading the country with the density of charging points and ramping up the proportion of rapid charging points.  Supporting the switch to EV by supporting the delivery of 200 charging points per year is one part of our commitment to improving air quality and tackling carbon emissions.
