About the guidance content

We want to support you to take action to eliminate carbon emissions from the built environment. This includes measures to reduce the energy used to heat and power residential, commercial, industrial and institutional properties so that we can achieve the objectives set out in our Climate Emergency Declaration.

Section A

The first part of this guidance offers an overview of planning, and building regulations, along with brief information on licensing and sustainable procurement.

Section B

The second part of this guidance sets out in more detail our advice on carbon reduction, pollution reduction and urban greening.

All change

Our Westminster Environment Guidance is very much a work in progress. The world of sustainability is fast-moving and the content of our website will keep changing accordingly to make sure you are kept fully up to date with good practice and any regulatory or statutory changes.

So please watch this space.

We cannot do this alone

More than ever, we need the help of our partners within Westminster and the wider world.  We know innovation will come not just from experts and public bodies but from our communities and will also be led by our business partners.
