Greening Westminster projects

Find out about how the Greening Westminster fund has helped our communities build green spaces.

Lisson Green Estate, Community Allotments

The Church Street Regeneration Programme secured funding from the ‘Open Spaces Greener Places’ Fund in 2021 to revitalise the pocket parks of Lisson Green Estate in Church Street.

The funding was spread across connecting estate gardens, providing ecological improvements and encouraging greater resident engagement.

Council officers worked with Community Delivery Partners, Groundwork and the Hammersmith Community Garden Association, who used the funds to tidy up the Lisson Grove Allotments ready for autumn.

Whilst over at Lavendon Wildlife Gardens, the fund was used for greening enhancements, including weeding existing planting and creating a new pathway of fresh bark to encourage more visitors through the space.

As part of the wider project at the Lisson Green Estate, officers facilitated community planting workshops with residents, where free gardening support was provided and plants and compost for potting.
