How you travel

Find out ways to reduce your carbon emissions by making some small changes to how you travel.

Electric bikes and scooters

Electric bikes are becoming a more popular way to travel around the city. They are also more accessible than pedal bikes for people with some mobility issues.

London Electric Scooter Rental trial

We are currently taking part in the Transport for London rental e-scooter trial in the spring and summer of 2022. You can hire an e-scooter by downloading the app from one of the three providers for the trial:

You’ll need to register and complete some basic training and then hire a scooter from any of the designated scooter parking bays shown on their apps or supporting websites.

You can only ride e-scooters on roads and not on pavements or through Hyde Park, Regents Park, St James’s Park and Green Park. It is still illegal to ride your own e-scooter on the public highway.

This trial will be subject to review with the Government in late 2022, early 2023.

Electric cargo bikes

Cargo bikes can be pedal powered and may also have an electric motor. They are increasingly being used by businesses and households to transport goods and deliveries in a climate-friendly way. We are keen to encourage cargo bikes in Westminster, and we offer cargo bike training. Follow the link to find out more.
