Carlton Vale Resident Management Organisation

Carlton Vale Resident Management Organisation was set up in 1997, as our residents wanted the opportunity to manage their homes themselves.

Westminster City Council is still the landlord, and rent or service charges are paid to them.

Seven blocks in Carlton Vale are managed by the resident management organisation - Helmsdale, Invergarry, Keith, Melrose, Peebles, Renfrew and Strome Houses - a total of 138 properties.

The management committee is made up of local residents, who are elected by members of the management organisation. If you live in one of the blocks managed by this organisation you are encouraged to become a member as this allows you to vote at meetings on issues that affect where you live and how your home is managed. Membership costs just £1.

Carlton Vale Resident Management Organisation aims to:

  • provide an effective and efficient service
  • promote community spirit among our residents

Responsibilities

Carlton Vale Resident Management Organisation has entered into a management agreement with the Council to take over some key housing services. These include:

  • general repairs and maintenance
  • cleaning
  • grounds maintenance
  • managing garages, sheds and parking spaces
  • dealing with empty properties and tenancy issues
  • monitoring communal decorations contractors when works are on site

The Council is still responsible for some works, for example, work to the structure of the building, or where something needs to be replaced rather than repaired.

The organisation has its own contractors for cleaning, grounds maintenance and repairs. We aim to maintain a high standard of upkeep throughout the common areas.
