Rent Support Fund
Last year we created a rent support fund to help tenants who were struggling with the increased cost of rent. From April 2024, rents will rise again, so we have set aside an additional £1m to continue this fund
Westminster City Council's Rent Support Fund has been created specifically to help those in financial difficulty. The money will be used to cover some or all of the upcoming rent increases for households who are not entitled to full housing benefits. Tenants who are eligible for full benefits will receive the increase in their Housing Benefit or Universal Credit payments.
We will be contacting our residents who need support by text, phone, letters, and house calls. We will also be reaching out to faith networks, libraries, and schools to ensure the support message is received right across the city.
