Case studies

"I thought it was great initiative in the council to open it up to the public, and I really found it a very positive experience. I also very much enjoyed the opportunity to see the council at work, and I was very impressed by the diversity of the council, and it seemed a very constructive environment."

Linda asked a question about the installation of CCTV in St John’s Wood

"We’re getting important questions answered about safety and other things in the community that really matter to the community, that need something doing about. This is a public meeting where a promise is made to deliver something, or not as the case may be, and I think that’s a real plus."

Marco raised a petition to create a dog friendly space in Paddington Street Gardens

"It was a great experience. It was a great opportunity not just to talk about the petition to the Councillors and hear the response but also to raise awareness to the whole audience and hopefully anyone watching."

Nigel asked a question about dockless e-bikes

I think it’s a very good opportunity for those people who bother, for example, to raise petitions or other campaigns, to take it to the council and to be recognised. And also, to maybe keep the councillors and cabinet members in touch with what the public in their area is actually thinking and feeling. So, from that point of view, it’s direct democracy.
