Warwick Avenue public realm project

Our proposals to improve the public spaces around Warwick Avenue

We are beginning a design project to improve the public street spaces at Warwick Avenue and would like to invite you to contribute to our upcoming stakeholder engagement events to gain insight on the issues and opportunities you see.

About the project

Warwick Avenue’s location, size and tube station mean it is a natural centre for the neighbourhood and a gateway to Little Venice, as well as a residential street. The current layout and cluttered pedestrian environment limit the potential for local use and enjoyment of Warwick Avenue. Westminster City Council wants to create a more welcoming and usable local centre for everyone, with improved public spaces and station environs, along with a safer more accessible and greener route towards the canal and Paddington beyond.

The Warwick Avenue is the first public realm design project to come forward from the council’s recently published Paddington Public Realm Strategy.

Place Shaping and Highways teams will manage the project and have appointed a design team led by Context Office urban designers, with BBUK landscape design and Studio Dekka lighting design.

Timeline

The project’s design phase will commence in January 2024 alongside focused stakeholder engagement and co-design events and will run until the summer, with a formal public consultation expected to take place in June 2024.

We want to hear from a broad range of perspectives and ensure our engagement process is representative of the area’s full diversity. Your participation in this early engagement stage will be invaluable to inform the design team’s understanding of the area and to shape the designs for Warwick Avenue.
