Carlton Dene and Peebles House
About the project
The council was granted planning permission in 2021 to redevelop the former Carlton Dene care home and Peebles House in the Maida Vale Ward into a 65 self-contained homes for ‘Extra Care’ and 22 affordable homes.
The project will deliver:
- 65 self-contained extra care homes for older people on the site of Carlton Dene
- 22 family-sized apartments for affordable rent on the site of Peebles House
- extra care residents will have their own private balconies, in addition to a shared green space
- local older people will be able to apply first for the extra care housing if they wish
- residents will gain access to both a brand-new café and hairdressers
- a greener site, with landscaping and spaces for children
Project status
In 2023, we demolished the existing care home structure and cleared the site for the main construction works. Following a thorough public sector procurement process, we have appointed Lovell to commence the main build of affordable homes.
To ensure that we are monitoring the impact of construction activities, we will be implementing our Code of Construction Practice, more details can be provided on request.
The construction of the new homes will commence in Spring 2024 and is scheduled for completion Spring 2026
Construction updates
Working hours are limited to 8am to 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays.
If you have any questions or concerns about the works themselves, contact Lovell Resident Liaison Officer, Harriet Allen, at [email protected] or 07551 676 379 during working hours.
