Schools' Clean Air Fund

The £1.1million fund is available to help tackle air quality and pollution around schools in Westminster.

Funding, eligibility and criteria

All nurseries, state and independent schools for children and young people aged 3 to 18 years in Westminster are eligible for funding.

Projects can encompass a wide range of interventions, including but not limited to:

  • Implementing landscaping initiatives to increase green and blue infrastructure.
  • Promoting and encouraging sustainable transportation.
  • Highway measures, such as School Streets and Play Streets
  • Upgrading school grounds and buildings.
  • Promotion of positive behavioural changes.

All state schools can apply for up to £14,000, and private schools can apply for up to £5,500.

Schools can only apply for funding after they have completed an Air Quality Audit and received their report.

If a school has already taken advantage of the Schools’ Clean Air Fund they are not eligible for additional funding at this point.
