Christmas tree decoration

2020 has been a challenging year for us all across Westminster, and, while this festive period may feel quite different, we want to hear what you, our Westminster residents, have been truly grateful for this year and spread some silly season cheer together.

From sending us pictures of your brightly decorated Christmas trees to telling us what you’re grateful for this year, as a Westminster resident, take part by 18 December 2020 for your chance to WIN a hamper from local businesses valued at £150.

To enter, send in something:

  • Creative: Send us a photo or video of your something Christmassy via text or email. Anything is welcome from decorated trees, pets dressed up like reindeers, window decorations, poems, artwork and fairy lights. The sky is the limit!

  • You are grateful for: Whether you’re thankful for your family, the support from friend or neighbour, or even the delight of visiting your local food shop or park, we want to hear from you. Send us a short video (landscape format), photo with quote or message - letting us know what has made your 2020 a little bit brighter.

Help us spread some cheer and send your entry by 18 December 2020, by text to +44 7781 472 821, Tweet us @WCChousing (opens new window) or email

Entries will be showcased on this page and go into the draw to WIN a £150 housing hamper full of goodies from local businesses. Cllr Harvey will draw a winner and personally deliver the hamper in the week commencing 21 December 2020.

Good luck!

"John Hayden (Head of Repairs) said he wanted all this to happen so we could have a good, warm and restful Christmas.
He has worked tirelessly to oversee every facet of the project. He is not only efficient, with his eye on all and his hand on the reins, he is the nicest bloke you`d ever want to meet. Nothing seems to difficult for him, or too much for us. John Hayden ought to be given a medal."

"I'm grateful to these two young men, Jess and Kush who took over the running of our local pharmacy after the death of his father in March. Mr Patel had owned and was a much loved member of our community for over 40 years"
Louise (Millbank Estate) "Hi Merry Christmas everyone, This year I was grateful for many things: The help I received from David Harvey, Danny and Selina from the cabinet members housing services, thank you so much. The meditation section  on Jo Good's radio London show with Claire Connolly at 4pm Monday to Friday, when every listener joined together during lockdown for  some much needed peace and serenity. For the two nesting crows near my home who I was able to help feed and the reward seeing  their two beautiful fluffy, playful, delightful chicks grow and fly."

They are our shining stars and may Allah bless us all so that we can be truly grateful for our blessings each and every moment of our lives. Special are the shop keepers the key workers who worked so hard and faced their own internal struggles to be able to continue giving to the community the support and kindness that each and every person so desperately needs in these trying times of this year.
Stay blessed everyone and always keep smiling ;)"
