Maida Hill Market project community engagement

Over the past few years, we have been working with some of the local community who either visit, live or work near the Maida Hill Market Place to learn their views on the key needs for the public space.

This can be summarised as wanting:

• a welcoming, safe, accessible and vibrant community space
• created with high quality materials
• meets the needs of the communities in the local area
• feels authentic to local users

We are now hosting in person engagement sessions on the proposed public improvement works in the Maida Hill Market square. We will be sharing images of the proposed designs, show markings of where changes to the space will be.

We would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on the proposals, so we can build and design a well loved and well used community space.

We hope to address visible physical concerns such as uneven pavings, and large puddles and drainage issues. As such, large sections of the public space will we need to be closed to fix these problems. Pathways to local businesses will be made available during works.

Proposed timeline

Subject to consultation feedback, the following is the tentative timeframe:

• Sharing of results May 2023
• Commencement of works September 2023
• Dependent on feedback from the engagement potentially the design development and the construction programme concluded by 2024
