According to Love Food Hate Waste, UK households waste 4.5m tonnes of edible food each year, enough to fill 90 Royal Albert Halls. Growing, processing, packaging and transporting the food we eat all contribute to climate change. And then when we throw it away, it rots and releases more greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
Making the most of our food will not only save us money, it will help us eat better and fight climate change.
During this practical workshop, we will show you how to prepare our favourite recipes that reduce foodwaste without compromising on taste. We will also be sharing simple tips on how to minimise waste, by considering how we plan, buy, store and throw away our food.
Together we will make:
- Overripe bananas energy bites, a yummy snack packed with protein
We’ll also cover:
- Different ways to use up stale bread
- How to never waste fresh herbs again
- Tasty ideas to use up what’s in your fridge
- How some of our leftovers can be beneficial for our guts
Please bring along a container to carry your energy bites home.
