Environmental protection
Whilst Trading Standards is not the primary enforcement agency for all environmental matters, we can enforce certain legislation.
We support legislation that has been introduced to improve the environment and supports these measures through our climate emergency action plan for a greener city.
In accordance with Regulation 34A (6)(b) of the Energy Performance of Buildings (England and Wales) Regulations 2012, Westminster City Council hereby publishes the fact that an agreement is in place with the Local Weights and Measures Authority of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC), for RBKC to enforce to regulations 6(2), 6(5), 7(2), 7(3), 7(4), 7(5), 7A(2), 7A(3), 10(2), 11(2), 14(3), 18(1), 20, 21 and 35(5) of the said act, in respect of local authority buildings in the area of Westminster City Council, as required by Regulation 34A (2).

Greenwashing
Some businesses claim their products or services are doing more to protect the environment than they actually are. They may claim to be eco-friendly, organic or natural but are not. These claims might be an offence under legislation that Trading Standards enforces.
