Westminster Lord Mayor receives Christmas Tree from Norway

The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Steve Summers, has accepted the gift of a tree from the people of Norway at a ceremony in Oslo.

The tree, which will be placed and lit up in Trafalgar Square, is a traditional gift from Norway for the help and support provided by the city during the Second World War.

The Mayor of Oslo, Ms Marianne Borgen, will travel to London for the ceremony on 1 December which will include a performance from the Choir of St Martin-in-the-Fields, the Norwegian Boys Choir and music from the Regent Hall Band of the Salvation Army. Primary School children will be in attendance to read poetry based on the theme of ‘Joy of nature in the City’.
