Starting primary school from September 2020

If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016, he or she is due to start Reception Class in primary school from September 2020.

Reception class 2020 outcomes

National offer day is 16 April 2020, and applicants will receive their result during the evening via email.

Any offers should be accepted or declined by 30 April 2020.

If you have not been offered a preferred school, please refer to the list and map of schools with vacancies or short waiting list to assist you in making further preferences.

Waiting lists and appeals

If your child was not offered their first preference school, they will be retained on the waiting list for any schools listed higher than the one they were offered. Waiting list positions for any community or academy school within Westminster (and Kensington & Chelsea) will be available from 15 May from the Admissions Team.

For religious schools, or schools located outside of Westminster (and Kensington & Chelsea), you are advised to contact the school directly, or the borough in which they are located, for further advice about the waiting list process.

There is a right to an independent appeal for any school that has been unable to offer a place. Please consult your formal outcome letter for more information about this process. Due to the ongoing restrictions relating to Covid-19 it is likely that the appeal timetable will be disrupted, and further advice is due to be released by the Department for Education shortly.

Late applications

The www.eadmissions.org.uk website is open until the end of July for late applications. If you require a paper form, please contact the Admissions Team using the details below.

Guidance and resources

To assist you in the application process, a hints and tips leaflet is provided with frequently asked questions.

For much more detailed information, the 'Your choice of primary education' brochure  is available to view or download. This brochure includes the oversubscription criteria for all Westminster City primary schools, including how places were offered in the previous year.

To support your research, last years distance maps for the 2019 year of entry are provided. Whist the distance will vary each year, these  maps will give you an idea of the home to school distance reached for schools that receive more applications than places available,  and when distance is used as the tie-breaker for the allocation of places.
