Lobbying on the Flood Re scheme
We are lobbying DEFRA to reform the eligibility criteria to the Flood Re scheme, in response to the floods in July 2021.
We are partnering with other London borough councils including Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, Camden to lobby Defra to reform the eligibility criteria for the Flood Re Scheme.
Following the flash floods that took place in July 2021, which saw 1,500 properties affected, we are calling on Defra to ensure the Flood Re Scheme supports affordable home insurance in London. It is evident that for residents whose homes are affected by flooding need access to affordable insurance cover and protection, so they are safeguarded from the devastating effects of future flooding.
