Support for adults who are bereaved through suicide

The following organisations support adults coping with bereavement after suicide. 

BWW Mind bereavement support

BWW Mind provides 'bereavement through suicide' support for residents in Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster. 

The service is a single point of contact providing practical support to individuals, families and others bereaved and affected by suicide.  

Services offered:  

  • 1:1 support 
  • relevant information, including Help is at Hand booklet 
  • signposting to bereavement support organisations 
  • peer support groups, mental health services and counselling, 
  • advocacy and liaison support during inquests or related meetings that may be part of the process following the suicide.

Suicide & Co bereavement helpline and counselling

Suicide & Co understands that navigating suicide bereavement can be hard. 

They provide a helpline, online resources from day one, and counselling six months after the bereavement.

Facing the Future online bereavement support groups 

Facing the Future provides safe online support groups for people bereaved by suicide where they can talk through their feelings with others who have similar experiences. 

The support groups meet on Zoom. Two trained volunteer facilitators run each support group from Samaritans and Cruse Bereavement Support. There are a maximum of seven participants in each group, and sessions are free of charge.  

This service is for people 18 years or older in London.

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide support groups

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBs) is a UK-based organisation offering peer-led support to adults impacted by suicide loss. They help individuals support each other during their loss and in the months and years that follow.

The Compassionate Friend is an organisation of bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents dedicated to the support and care of other similarly bereaved families who have experienced the death of a child or children.

Support After Suicide Partnership – bereavement guide

The Support After Suicide Partnership is a UK-wide network of over 70 members and supporters. They are a special interest group of the National Suicide Prevention Alliance (NSPA) based at Samaritans.
