Local Enforcement Plan
What we consulted on
The consultation is aimed at gathering input from across the borough to identify what our communities see as their priorities for planning enforcement and what their experience has been whilst using planning services.
Consultation description
The consultation is in the form of 6 questions that cover the following areas:
- seeking confirmation of the respondents’ priorities for planning enforcement
- what their experience has been of using the planning enforcement service
- their experience of being contacted by the planning enforcement service
- whether any improvements could be made to the service, including in terms of accessibility
Below are three examples of where we have taken planning enforcement action:
- The candy store below had an unauthorised, illuminated, advertisement in a conservation area
- The property below made unauthorised works to form a roof terrace at a residential property
- The extraction duct is an example of the installation of an unauthorised plant
Summary of the proposals
The data gathered will inform the content of the Local Enforcement Plan (LEP), which we hope to publish by the end of the year. It will help us to determine what the enforcement priorities will be, and any improvements that can be made to the service.
The local enforcement plan will set out the enforcement priorities for Westminster, the processes involved in planning enforcement, and the toolkit available to proceed with formal enforcement action. The LEP will outline how to raise a concern for the planning enforcement team to investigate, what happens during the investigation and the timescales involved.
The consultation has concluded 11 May 2023. The results will then inform the drafting of the Local Enforcement Plan, which we hope to publish by the end of the year.
