Join local author Mary Moore Mason for a fascinating talk on the history and heritage of Native Americans. The story of her Virginia ancestress’s capture by Shawnee Indians is included in her book of transatlantic adventures. Her visits to some 14 Native American nations and tribes are featured in the most recent issue of the magazine she founded.

Would you use the colour red for anger? Or grey for feeling sad. Perhaps, yellow for being happy. Using a Feelings Thermometer as a guide, we will work together with families to create drawings that show what those feelings look in a variety of colours.
This workshop is suitable for children six years and up. Parental supervision and participation are a must.
About the Feeling in Colour concept
Paddington Library ran two art and wellbeing series for adults to explore emotions and by using colour, could represent these through paints or oil pastels.
Together with volunteers, they want to extend this concept to families. They are not experts in Art Therapy or counsellors.
We hope we create a space that is fun and safe for you and your children.

Looking for half-term activities? Come along to our bit-size STEM event.
There are two parts to this event.
At the start of the session, children will make batches of cookie dough and cut out Easter-themed shapes- bunnies, eggs and more.
During this time, they will learn about the science of measuring. You will be able to measure dry ingredients in grams (g) and liquids in millilitres (ml).
Your Easter helpers (library staff) will hop away to bake the cookies. Whilst we do that, why not check out our children's books on food for more delicious recipes you can try at home?
Later in the afternoon, children will be able to learn about primary and secondary colours.
Mix food colouring in fondant icing to decorate your easter cookies however you like. Once done, you'll bag them up to take home.
We advise bringing along aprons as this event will get messy.
