Between 2017 and 2021, the council worked on the production of a new City Plan 2019-2040 for Westminster. The plan was informed by several rounds of public consultation and ongoing engagement with our key partners and stakeholders.
The plan was submitted to the Secretary of State on 19 November 2019.
Following an independent examination by the Planning Inspectorate the council received the Inspectors’ Report on the City Plan 2019-2040 on 19 March 2021. This concluded that with the recommended main modifications, the plan was sound and compliant with legal requirements.
The conclusions of the report meant that the council could proceed towards formal adoption at Full Council. The City Plan 2019-2040 was subsequently adopted on 21 April 2021.
