Westminster City Council has agreed to the early termination of a housing refurbishment contract with one of its suppliers, Axis Europe.

Due to a change in their business circumstances, Axis Europe have given the council notice of their decision to end the contract.

To ensure that planned refurbishment works continue seamlessly, with minimal delays, Axis Europe will fulfil a two-year transition period (until August 2022) to the high standards that we have agreed, while the council seeks a new contractor.

Axis Europe have been one of the council’s major works contractors on the city’s housing estates for the past eight years.  In early 2018 they were awarded a 10-year contract to refurbish council properties across the north of Westminster.

Westminster City Council Cabinet Member for Housing Services, David Harvey, said:

“Our priority is to see refurbishment works completed to a high standard for our residents.

“While we are disappointed that Axis have decided to cut short their contract, together we will ensure that contractual commitments are fulfilled to the agreed high quality while another contractor is appointed.”
