Councillor Cara Sanquest appointed as new Cabinet Member

The Leader of the Council, Adam Hug, has appointed Councillor Cara Sanquest to the newly created Cabinet post of Resident Participation, Consultation Reform and Leisure.

The new Cabinet Member will be responsible for engaging with Westminster’s communities and making sure they have a say in how their council is run. They will also oversee some of the council’s core services.

The new portfolio will cover:

  • The council’s customer services
  • Digital services
  • Engagement with resident groups and local forums
  • Equalities, diversity and inclusion
  • Leisure services

Upon her appointment, Councillor Cara Sanquest said:

“I’m thrilled to be appointed as Cabinet Member for Resident Participation, Consultation Reform and Leisure. This is building on the work we have already been undertaking in my Deputy Cabinet Member role.

“On everything the council does, whether it’s reducing inequalities, reforming the way the council works, or improving our the services we deliver, it’s essential that residents have a say in the decisions that affect their lives.

“Westminster’s diverse communities are what make our city so special, and I’m determined to work with our residents to make Westminster a fairer place to live.”
