Westminster City Council has appointed Elad Eisenstein as its new Oxford Street Programme Director, a key appointment to the team that is working with local groups and partners to develop ideas and deliver on the Council’s promised investment in this key district within the West End.
Trained as an architect and urban designer, Elad is a cities and regeneration expert with two decades of experience specialising in leading, designing and delivering complex and large-scale urban projects across the globe. Past projects include Stratford City’s International Quarter and Tottenham Regeneration in London, NOMA in Manchester, Sydney’s Central Railway Corridor (C2E) and Circular Quay, Zuidas in Amsterdam and the Singapore Sports Hub. He is due to take up his new post in Westminster in October 2020.
The Council is totally committed to supporting and enhancing Oxford Street and the surrounding neighbourhoods and has previously set aside £150m of capital funding to kickstart this vital work. Since the start of the pandemic, engagement with local residents, businesses and partners has been ongoing to understand the longer term impacts of Covid on central London’s economy in order to develop appropriate plans and initiatives that will ensure it will be fit for the futureWestminster City Council Leader, Cllr Rachael Robathan, said: “We remain totally committed to supporting the unique economy of the Oxford Street District. He has a track record of successfully working on major schemes across the globe and will be a very welcome addition to our team as we develop fresh ideas and deliver on our promised investment.”
