Westminster City Council announces changes to the Cabinet

Councillor Nafsika Butler-Thalassis has been elected Deputy Leader of Westminster City Council. Cllr Butler-Thalassis retains her Cabinet portfolio of Adult Social Care, Public Health and Voluntary Sector, and replaces Cllr Tim Roca as Deputy Leader.

Upon her election, Cllr Butler-Thalassis said:

“I’m delighted to have been elected Deputy Leader of Westminster Council. Replacing Cllr Roca will not be easy but I will work hard to support my colleagues to ensure we continue to deliver the best possible services for Westminster residents.”

Councillor Ryan Jude has also joined the Cabinet to take on the new portfolio of Climate, Ecology and Culture. Cllr Jude was previously the Deputy Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Biodiversity. The portfolio includes responsibility for Climate and ecological Action; Libraries and Registrars; Culture and Tourism; and Parks and Open Spaces.

Speaking of his new role, Cllr Jude said:

"It is a privilege to become the youngest ever Cabinet Member in Westminster City Council’s history, and the first of Indian descent. Our administration has made significant progress on climate and ecology, being ranked the top single tier authority in the UK for climate action, and declaring a long-needed ecological emergency. I look forward to continue driving forward this agenda as a Cabinet Member, alongside my new responsibilities for Culture, Tourism and Libraries."
