I found this job fair extremely helpful and feel more confident about finding my perfect job’.

On 26 November 2019 Westminster Employment service (WES) held a construction recruitment job fair with over 40 Westminster residents in attendance.

It was a great opportunity for residents to discover employment opportunities with some of the biggest construction employers operating in the city.  The job fair was held at Greenside Community Centre in the Church Street regeneration area, listed as one of the highest pockets of poverty in Westminster.

Some of the biggest names in the construction industry attended in high spirits, with the determination to recruit as many bright and ambitious Westminster residents as possible. Those in attending included Berkeley Group, Multiplex, Sir Robert McAlpine, Oakray, Wilmott Dixon and Morgan Sindall.

Residents of all ranges of professional backgrounds, race and age were in attendance. A week after the fair there has been 9 job offers so far, with 2 people starting a day after the job fair and the remainder starting in January 2020. Furthermore, there are more interviews to be confirmed in 2020.

It is part of the council’s future to have sector specific events that will encourage more Westminster residents into full time employment.
