Private Rented Sector Tenants' Charter
Our Private Rented Sector Tenants’ Charter sets out the standards for privately rented homes in Westminster.
Our Private Rented Sector (PRS) Tenants’ Charter sets out the main standards that should be maintained in privately rented homes on Westminster. It’s designed to help renters better understand their rights and responsibilities, setting out clear information on key issues such as:
- damp and mould
- unlawful evictions, and
- unfair rent practices.
It also provides information on how they can access advice and support locally if things aren’t right.
The Charter is part of our wider commitment to improving housing standards across Westminster and promoting safe, fair, and sustainable tenancies.
It has been developed in collaboration with key partners via our PRS Strategy Group, and with direct input from tenants who rent homes in the city.
The document is available in both full length and easy read versions, so you can find the information you need in the right level of detail for you.
We will continue to review and update our Tenants’ Charter in the context of major developments in the landscape of Private Rented Sector housing (such as the Renters Rights Bill).
