City cycling courses

Free city cycling courses are available if you live, work or study in Westminster. They are provided by Cycle Confident, an approved provider of Bikeability cycle training. All of their instructors are highly experienced, fully insured and have been rigorously trained.

Adult courses

You will receive up to two hours of one-to-one training with a qualified instructor who will tailor the session to your needs whatever your level of experience. The session will occur at whatever time you agree with your assigned instructor. Book your adult training session.

Westminster City Council recommends the use of a helmet when cycling but recognises that it remains a matter of personal choice. Advice on helmets is part of the training that is offered on our City Cycling Courses.

Group courses

Group training sessions are for those who are new to cycling and those who want to learn from scratch. These sessions happen on weekends in an off road area. Bicycles and helmets are provided. They are an ideal way to get started in a fun group environment, before moving on to a one-to-one session. Book your place at a group session.

Schools courses

We offer schools sessions for years 3 and 4 which consist of a set of fun playground games that teach good bike control (Bikeability Level 1), knowledge of how the bike works and gets them excited about cycling.

In years 5 and 6, we offer five sessions of two hours each which incorporate the level 1 training as well as level 2 which is takes place on quiet roads near the school. Children learn bike control, basic rules of the road and a wealth of other useful information that gets them started as safe and responsible road users. Book a session at your school.

Bike Maintenance Lessons

This £15 session covers basic bike maintenance including wheel removal, puncture repair, brakes, gear adjustment and lubrication of key parts. A little knowledge goes a long way and this course will pay for itself many times over in a very short time as well as making your riding experience more comfortable. Book a maintenance class.
