2. How to apply

Please review the available pitches on the Bayswater Road and Green Park Exhibition sites.

If you are interested in trading on any of these vacant pitches, please complete and return an application form for a street trading licence. The deadline for the submission of applications for the current vacancies is 27 October 2016. All applications received prior to this date will be held until the deadline has passed and they will then be considered at the same time against the council's street trading policy. Whilst we will try to allocate the desired pitches, this can't always be guaranteed.

Successful applicants will be invited to attend an appointment at Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, London, SW1E 6QP.  They will be required to bring the following to the appointment:

  • 2 to 3 pieces of each type of original art and craft work
  • 1 full-face passport-size photograph taken within the last 12 months (if more than one pitch is taken then an additional photo per pitch will be required)
  • proof of current address (e.g. recent utility bill, bank statement, drivers licence or current council tax bill/book)
  • a valid passport, or if you are an EU National, a National Identity Card will be accepted
  • Proof of National Insurance (NI) Registration Number (e.g. letter from HMRC, P60/P45)

The applicant will also be required to pay the full application fee by credit or debit card during the appointment.

In addition, the applicant will be required to take out third party public liability insurance with a minimum liability of £2,000,000 prior to the application being granted. This can be arranged through the Bayswater Road Association or Green Park Arts and Crafts Association, or traders can seek cover through alternative organisations. Once licensed, the trader must have a public liability insurance policy with a minimum liability of £2,000,000 in place throughout the time that the licence is in force.

3. What happens next

If an application is granted, a street trading exhibition licence will be issued along with an ID plate which should be displayed at all times while trading.

The street trading licence will remain in force until cancelled or revoked. You will be expected to comply with the licence conditions.

Please note:

  • traders must personally attend the pitch to exhibit their own work
  • if you are unable to trade due to ill health, charges may be waived if formally requested in writing (email is acceptable) supported by an original medical certificate which must be submitted as soon as possible after the period of illness
  • if you would like someone else to exhibit your work during your annual holiday, you should let us know in advance. The person's full name and address should be given in writing and they will need to show proof of identity as well as your street trading licence or ID plate. You, as the licence holder, will be responsible for the conduct of this person while they work the pitch
  • charges are payable even if you are unable to attend the exhibition on any given trading day
  • a licence can be cancelled at any time subject to written notification and return of the street trading licence

4. Replacement exhibition licence

If you misplace your street trading licence or ID plate, please email streettradinglicensing@westminster.gov.uk to request a replacement.

The fee for a duplicate licence is £15.45. A replacement ID plate costs £2.06. Please call 020 7641 7010 to make payment by debit or credit card over the phone.
