Decent homes grant
This grant covers work necessary for the home to comply with the 'Decent Homes' standard such as energy efficiency and repairs.
It is means tested and the maximum grant available is £8,000. No more than that amount will be paid to the same applicant in any 3 year period.
People who are eligible to apply:
Tenants/private free holders/leaseholders
- a private freeholder or leaseholder with more than 3 years unexpired on a lease
- a private tenant with a full repairing obligation
The person must be 18 or over and be vulnerable (i.e. in receipt of eligible benefits*).
The premises must be their main or only residence
Private owners
- 4a private owner whose tenant is over 60 years old and vulnerable
- a private owner of accommodation in Queen's Park or Harrow Road wards that is occupied by a vulnerable tenant
