Action on nature, ecology, and biodiversity

Information about green spaces, community food growing and funding available for local biodiversity projects.

Parks and green spaces

The open and green spaces dotted across Westminster are remarkable. We are fortunate to be custodians of some of the most recognised and valued areas in London and almost one quarter of Westminster's 8.9 square mile area is open and green space.

Parks and open spaces

Westminster is home to a variety of parks, pocket gardens, square gardens and open spaces with historical significance. Search for a park, local playground, or square garden.

We are also the proud recipient of numerous Green Flag Awards. These awards are seen as the gold standard for public spaces that are welcoming, safe and well maintained. Find out about our award-winning parks and public spaces.

Green Westbourne

Green Westbourne reimagines the relationship between nature and people living, studying and working in Westbourne. Led by Westbourne Forum in partnership with London National Park City, Green Westbourne is a partnership between local residents, the voluntary sector, business and Westminster Council.

Active Westminster

Our parks and open spaces are also home to a variety of sport and active facilities, from multi-use games areas (MUGAs) to outdoor gyms and everything in between. Find out what sports facilities your local park has on offer.

The Park Makers Scheme

The Park Makers’ scheme regulates, facilitates and enables the use of our parks and open spaces by various community providers and personal trainers.

Paddington Recreation Ground

Spread over 27 acres in the heart of central London, Paddington Recreation Ground has an enormous range of facilities for you to enjoy.

Sayers Croft Urban Nature Space

Sayers Croft Trust have created a space in Westminster created to help give people the opportunity to engage with nature in a meaningful way. The trust also runs forest schools and environmental education workshops and events.

Volunteer as a Ranger for The Royal Parks

The Royal Parks are expanding their Volunteer Ranger Service to Regent’s Park. The Volunteer ranger teams are friendly and approachable, it’s a sociable and active volunteering role. Volunteers work in twos, welcoming visitors and helping them get the most out of their visit to the parks.
