Still time to sign up for free pet welfare workshops and microchipping events

The Mayhew team

We are proud to have teamed up with Battersea Dog and Cat Home and Mayhew animal welfare charity to bring free pet welfare advice and microchipping to our Westminster City Council Housing tenants.

Through the Pet Ready Training Programme, Battersea’s Community Engagement team hopes to improve the lives of animals by helping the local community tackle animal welfare issues in London.

If you are a tenant or leaseholder you can read our pet policy in your tenant or lessee handbook as permission to get a dog or cat is given on a case by case basis.

If you have any questions you can call us on 0800 358 3783 (freephone) or email housing.enquiries@westminster.gov.uk

If you are thinking about getting a pet, or you are looking for training tips for your dog, then you can also attend a free workshop run by Battersea. At the workshop, you will discover what it takes to be a great pet owner, build an unbreakable bond with your animal and learn tips that will keep your neighbours happy too. Book your free place (opens new window).

Mayhew’s range of community projects aim to keep loving owners with their animals, whatever the circumstances; from free and low-cost healthcare, to providing temporary foster care during your time in need. Meet their knowledgeable Animal Welfare Officers at an event this summer, or give them a call on 0208 962 8000, to discuss any animal welfare dilemma you may be facing.

Already have a furry friend but want to check in on their health? There are also a range of drop in events where you can bring your dog for free welfare advice, plus a free microchipping service, run by Westminster Animal Warden Service and Mayhew. The dates are shown below. Microchipping gives you the best chance of being reunited with your dog if they go missing. Every year, animal rescue centres like Battersea and Mayhew take in thousands of stray dogs and many are not reunited with their owners as there is no way of tracing them.

You can visit a drop in at one of the following dates and venues below. Alternatively, visit the Battersea website for online advice on how to help keep your pet healthy and happy (opens new window), or Mayhew’s website for details of community support projects (opens new window).
