The sun came out for residents of Glastonbury House, a sheltered and supported housing unit in Pimlico, as they gathered together to enjoy a vintage inspired tea party on Wednesday 1 August.

It was organised by Westminster Housing and contractor United Living, to  thank residents for their patience and  cooperation whilst work is carried out in their block and give residents an opportunity to talk to staff about the works. The installation of sprinklers, and new fire doors will ensure residents in the 22-storey block feel safe. Maria Pinhao said:

“I’ve been living at Glastonbury House for 10 years. Residents would like to see more improvements in the way the block is managed, however events like this are a great way for us to come together and have a chat. I’ve had a great time this afternoon."

As well as enjoying tea and cake, the party was also an opportunity for residents to mingle with each other, enjoy music such as swing and old favourites. Anne Towns said:

“The tea party was magnificent. It has been nice talking with other residents out here today. We should hold more events like this in the warmer months to get residents out of their flats. It can be lonely and isolating for some.”

The tea party was rounded off with a raffle which was won by Margaret Hiscock. She said:

“I’m shocked! The tea party has been lovely with lots of nice things to eat. Winning the raffle has made my day!”
