We’re taking part in the 2019 Scams Awareness campaign this month and helping residents stay #scamaware now and all year around.
Every 15 seconds someone in the UK loses money to a scam. It is Scam Awareness Month and we want our residents to know what they can do to avoid being a victim and the importance of talking to friends, family and neighbours, especially those most vulnerable.
Here are three important ways you can act on scams:
1. Get advice from the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline (opens new window)
2. Report scams to Action Fraud
3. Talk to friends and family so that they learn how to recognise a scam too. If you think it could be a scam then stop, report, talk.
We would like to remind residents that Westminster Housing appointed contractors will make an appointment with you prior to visiting your home. All our contractors carry and will show you their ID.
They will also wait whilst you verify their ID. They will not ask you for money to carry out work to your home. If you wish to verify any Westminster Housing staff or contractor, please call customer services on 0800 358 3783.
