United Living, one of our contractors who work with us to maintain, refurbish and build some of our properties, are providing a training workshop for our residents as part of their social value commitment.
The Bid Writing workshop is being run for residents living on our estates who are involved in their resident's association, resident's groups or local community groups, where they would need to apply for funding to help with new initiatives or to cover running costs.
The workshop will provide guidance on how to develop, structure and word a tender, plus help you to align your tender to the priorities of the funder. The workshop will discuss:
1. What funding opportunities are out there – finding the best funder by considering the size of the pot of money and what the priorities/exclusion criteria are
2. Developing your ideas – What is it you want the money to fund? Keeping your ideas SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Resources needed, Time limit)
3. Writing style – Writing persuasively, not descriptively, keeping proposals succinct, measurable and easy to read, personalised to what the funder wants)
4. Tender Dos/Don’ts – What are the main things to stay away from/ try to include in every tender.
