Winners announced for Westminster Community Awards 2017

The Westminster Community Awards took place on Tuesday 4 July 2017 at the Porchester Hall to recognise volunteers who improve the lives of others. The event was held in partnership with One Westminster and Groundwork London.

The event featured performances from the Spirit Young Performers Company and the Blend West End Choir.

Congratulations to everyone who was a winner, highly commended or shortlisted.

Neighbourhood Project Award

Winner: Mother Tongue Counselling Service, Wandsworth & Westminster Mind

Highly commended: North Paddington Foodbank Team and the Marble Arch Street Team

Outstanding Organisation Award

Winner: Beauchamp Lodge Settlement

Highly commended: Hear Women and the Central London Samaritans

The Sir Simon Milton Award

Winner: Ellen Bridgewater

Highly commended: Yvonne Adams

Young or Student Volunteer Award

Winners: Ambeya Begum and David Mears

Corporate Contribution to the Community Award

Winner: The Pacific Investment Management Company

Highly commended: The Other Palace Theatre and John Lewis, Victoria Branch

Inspirational Award

Winner: Alan Boyd

Highly commended: Gwyneth Williams and Christine Yau

The City for All Volunteer of the Year Award

Winner: Sheila D'Souza

Highly commended: Patricia Aitzian and Daphne Whyte
