Five best places in Westminster to celebrate London Cocktail Month

Published: 21 October 2021

With the biggest cocktail festival in the world in full flow throughout October, Londoners are flocking to bars across Westminster to check out some of the borough’s coolest drinking spots. From speakeasy decor to creative mixology, Mayfair, Soho, Covent Garden and Pimlico are all cocktail hotspots.

Over the past 11 years, the festival has inspired a new generation of Londoners to demand better drinking experiences, and injected millions of pounds of revenue directly back into the London hospitality trade. Throughout October, Covent Garden is home to The Essence House, London Cocktail Month’s main pop-up hub: every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7pm, a celebrated bar team from around the UK or Europe will be taking over the bar with a special menu of £7 cocktails.

Meanwhile, we’ve shortlisted five of our favourite drinking institutions across Westminster, which serve up excellent tipples all year round.

Cafe Pacifico, Covent Garden

One of London’s oldest tequila bars, Cafe Pacifico is an authentic and charming spot in the heart of Covent Garden that will be serving two Patron Tequila cocktails throughout London Cocktail Month. They also have a top selection of lesser known tequilas to try as well.

The rooftop bar at The Trafalgar St James

This glamorous rooftop bar in the heart of London has iconic views over Trafalgar Square and Big Ben. This doesn’t stop their cocktails from being top notch, though. Throughout October they’re serving the Riviera Paloma, a Mirabeau Gin and pink grapefruit cocktail.

Rico Coco, Mayfair

A secret lavender-filled terrace in the heart of Mayfair, Rico Coco is that hidden gem that everyone knows about. Their bar team have concocted a Sailor’s Punch made with Bumbu original rum, which seems only fitting for this botanical rooftop bar.

100 Wardour Street, Soho

A cavernous underground bar in Soho, 100 Wardour Street is where live music and cocktails flow late into the evening. There’s a smart casual dress code and a clientele to match. For London Cocktail Month, make a beeline for the Don Aperol, the Italian classic spiked with Tequila, St Germain and er… no Aperol.

The Malt Lounge, Marble Arch

Specialising in premium Japanese whisky, The Malt Lounge is an intimate and sophisticated bar, and is a rare find in Marble Arch. Enjoy their signature Toki Whisky in the Hajimari cocktail throughout October, and come back from cherry blossom-inspired Sakura cocktails in the spring.
