Westminster Registration Service - Coronavirus FAQs

I have a marriage / civil partnership ceremony booked in the next few weeks. Will it still go ahead?

No, Unfortunately following Government advice we are no longer able to carry out wedding and civil partnership ceremonies at the Old Marylebone Town Hall or at any of the approved venues in Westminster. This is likely to be the case for the next three months. Please do not come along to Town Hall as there will be no one available to see you.

You may wish to cancel your ceremony and apply for a refund – if that is the case please complete this form.

Alternatively you may wish to re-schedule your ceremony for some time later in the year or next year.  You can view the availability of appointments from 1 September 2020 onwards online via www.adaytoremember.london. If you find a date and time that is suitable for you please complete this reschedule application form to apply to reschedule your ceremony.

If you wish to have a ceremony between the 1 July and 31 August 2020 please complete the reschedule application form and a member of the team will be in touch with you as soon as possible to discuss availability and options with you. Please be aware that given the uncertainty of the situation and if Government advice changes again, you may need to be prepared to reschedule your ceremony once again.

Please note we are experiencing high levels of calls and emails at the moment, so it may take longer than expected to respond to you. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

I have a Citizenship Ceremony booked for the next few weeks. Will it still go ahead?

No -  we are no longer able to carry out citizenship ceremonies at the Old Marylebone Town Hall and this will be the case until further notice. Please do not come along to Town Hall as there will be no one available to see you.

Please also be aware that as there is a legal requirement for you to make your oath of allegiance in order to obtain your citizenship in person, there is, unfortunately, no legal provision in place to allow you to do this electronically instead.

You would normally be expected to book your citizenship ceremony within three months of being sent an invitation from the Home Office. Due to the current pandemic circumstances UKVI have extended this period to six months and will keep this under constant review. Please be advised that no adverse decisions will be made on applications because of delays caused by Coronavirus.

If you wish to speak to a member of the team, please email registeroffice@westminster.gov.uk quoting your name, Home Office reference number and telephone number. Please note we are experiencing high levels of calls and emails at the moment, so it may take longer than expected to respond to you. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
