Westminster City Council becomes only the second London Borough to win an award for meeting required CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & supply) standards. The award follows a formal review of the organisation, strategy, people, processes and performance management.
The Procurement Services team received recognition as its work has maintained procurement policies, procedures, processes and systems that met the required CIPS standards.
The coveted award provides the following benefits to the council:
Reassurance: Ensuring the council has key enablers in place for effective governance gives the council confidence and peace of mind that it can achieve supply assurance and compliance.
Credibility: Working towards a specific award tells the world and our stakeholders that the council is operating effectively, building its reputation and ensuring greater recognition of, and confidence in, the procurement function.
Influence: Increasing the council's credibility means an increase in influence, giving it more input into business procurement decisions and greater control over spend.
Value: Examining the council's procurement and supplier management procedures in targeted detail highlights where improvements and efficiencies can be made, helping the council to deliver savings, value for money and drive change.
Relationships: Going on the Corporate Certification journey engages and empowers the team, building morale and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.
This award is a testament to the councils and the Procurement Service teams hard work, commitment and dedication and will enable the team to strive for continuous improvement in the future.
Congratulations to the team.
