Westminster City Council has been shortlisted in the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Awards under the category of Most Innovative Use of Technology in procurement, for our use of capitalEsourcing.
This category rewards procurement and supply chain teams that have used technology in an innovative way to improve performance or efficiency.
Our submission highlighted our Tri-borough collaboration, with the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in our approach to procurement.
The project’s primary focus was to simplify processes for the buyer and supplier, remove repetition, standardise methodologies and cut costs across local authorities.
These objectives were achieved with capitalEsourcing, a unique single strategic procurement technology platform, implemented with BravoSolution. The platform was configured to support multiple authorities using a single workflow and standard templates, thus creating efficiencies, standardising best practices and generating impactful savings.
In January 2014, the Tri-borough partnership launched capitalEsourcing and within 12 months four new city councils had joined – more than doubling the initial borough membership. Today, more than 550 buyers and over 5,000 suppliers rely on capitalEsourcing.
The results of the CIPS Awards will be announced on 9 September 2015.
