The UK’s next generation of entrepreneurs will tour award-winning businesses, pitch their business ideas to The Apprentice’s Margaret Mountford, and hear from some of the country’s most successful young entrepreneurs at the first Westminster Enterprise Week, 16 - 22 November 2015.

More than half of young people in the UK aged 16 to 24 want to start their own business. To help them get their ideas off the ground, the council has launched an annual Westminster Enterprise Week to connect young people in Westminster to the world-class enterprise opportunities on their doorstep.

Cllr Daniel Astaire, Cabinet Member for Housing, Regeneration, Business and Economic Development, Westminster City Council, said: “Westminster businesses contribute more to the national economy than those in any other local authority and the city is global hub for start-ups. Some of the most exciting new businesses in the world are based here, from creative studios to technology start-ups, as well as high-quality enterprise spaces and incubators.

“Westminster Enterprise Week will connect the young people that live and study here with these unique opportunities and ultimately inspire the entrepreneurs of the future.”

This year over 1,000 students from Westminster secondary schools and colleges will visit innovative businesses including Bafta and Oscar award-winning studios, tour Westminster’s enterprise spaces, take part in masterclasses and workshops, and even have the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to former Apprentice star, Margaret Mountford.

Margaret Mountford, Former Advisor to Lord Sugar on the BBC’s The Apprentice and Chair of Trustees, Bright Ideas Trust, said:  “It is great to see a local authority that is so focussed on nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of young people. Support from councils is invaluable for achieving the great future that these young people strive for and it’s encouraging that they’ll have the opportunity to seek help and advice from Bright Ideas Trust and other industry experts.”

Westminster Enterprise Week is an official partner of Global Entrepreneurship Week, the world’s largest entrepreneurship campaign.
