Our proposals to deliver new homes at Westmead

We are proposing to develop 65 new homes at Westmead with a minimum of 35% affordable housing.

These homes will be delivered after the residents of Westmead Care Home have safely moved to Beachcroft House, a modern, dementia-friendly facility currently under construction in Maida Vale.

Consulting from a distance

In light of government advice on Covid-19, we are running this final round of consultation online. On this website, you can browse our revised proposals before getting in touch with the team to share your thoughts.

If you prefer, you can also download a booklet and read more about our proposals that way. If you’d like us to post you a copy, please email westmead@westminster.gov.uk.

Even though Covid-19 prevents us from meeting you in person, we are still keen to hear your feedback before we submit a planning application.

Background to our proposals

Westmead Care Home is a 42-bed residential care home in the north-west of Westminster.

Residents of Westmead were consulted on its closure and their move to a new, modern and state-of-the-art care home in 2018. This idea was overwhelmingly supported by residents and their families.

This has freed up the Westmead site for development. Given its excellent public transport links and location, we saw its potential to be a wonderful site for new, much-needed homes in Westminster.

Beachcroft House

Residents of Westmead Care Home will be moving into Beachcroft House later this year. Beachcroft is a state-of-the-art, dementia-friendly care home with modern facilities.

Currently under construction in Maida Vale, the new care home is almost complete. As soon as it is safe to do so, residents will be moving from Westmead and nearby Carlton Dene into the new facility.
