The Lord Mayor's blog - we shall remember them

Mon, 13/11/2017

There was a big build up to Remembrance Sunday last week.

This included a walk around the Field of Remembrance outside Westminster Abbey, a GLA Service of Remembrance with other London Mayors, and wreath-laying at the memorial to French Marshal Foch (wearing a forget-me-not) near Victoria Station.

I also went to the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall. This was in the presence of Her Majesty the Queen and other members of the Royal Family. The event included tributes to those caught up in recent terrorist atrocities in the capital and was shown on the BBC.

I also participated in the Remembrance Sunday service at Westminster Abbey where I read the First Lesson. Later the same day I attended Lancaster Gate War Memorial to lay a wreath in honour of the fallen of Paddington.

Don't forget to follow me on twitter to keep up with all my news!
