This Thursday (5 February) Westminster City Council’s Twitter account will be taken over by the electoral services team to help boost the number of people signing up to vote ahead of this year’s general election.
So far thousands of residents in Westminster have registered, after a nationwide campaign was launched last year. As the big election day approaches on 7 May, the council is keen to sign up as many people as possible. The deadline date for registering to vote in respect of the general election is 20 April.
The council’s twitter feed will be used for a one day question and answer session to try and establish any reasons for people not wanting to vote, and also to answer any queries that people might have on the voting process.
The takeover will run from 9am to 5pm using the #askwccvote
