Waiting lists and appeals

If your child was not offered their first preference school, they will be retained on the waiting list for any schools listed higher than the one they were offered. Waiting list positions for the following schools will be available from 27 March from the Admissions Team.

  • Harris Academy St John’s Wood
  • Paddington Academy
  • Pimlico Academy
  • Westminster Academy

For other schools you are advised to contact the school directly, or the borough in which they are located, for further advice about the waiting list process.

There is a right to an independent appeal for any school that has been unable to offer a place. Please consult your formal outcome letter for more information about this process.

Late applications

The eAdmissions website is open until the end of July for late applications. If you require a paper form, please contact the Admissions Team using the details below.

Resources

To assist you in the application process, a hints and tips leaflet is provided with frequently asked questions. The 'Your choice for secondary education' brochure is available to view or download. This brochure includes the oversubscription criteria for all Westminster council  secondary schools, including how places were offered in the previous year.

To support your research, last years distance maps for the 2019 year of entry are provided. Whist the distance will vary each year, these maps will give you an idea of the home to school distance reached for schools that refer to this as the main criteria for allocating places.

Slideshow presentations are also provided with specific guidance for residents in the north and south of the borough.

Ark King Soloman Academy

Ark King Solomon Academy is not part of the secondary transfer process. This is because pupils on the roll of the school in year 6 will automatically move through to year 7, so there are no additional places available for secondary transfer children.

However, every year a small number of pupils leave the school at the end of year 6, meaning places will become available for external applicants. If you are interested in applying for a place in year 7 at Ark King Solomon Academy, please complete an in-year application form.
