Traineeships are courses with work experience, work preparation, maths and English. They help to get you ready for work or an apprenticeship and can last up to 6 months. The work placements are unpaid, but employers sometimes help with expenses and travel.

You can apply if you:

  • are able to work in England
  • are aged 16 to 24
  • are unemployed
  • have little or no work experience
  • do not have a Level 3 qualification (such as A Levels)

Most traineeships do not ask for any qualifications. Search for traineeships on GOV.UK or take a look at schemes in Westminster in the following pages.
