Team Westminster is Westminster City Council's flagship volunteering programme. There are many ways to volunteer with us, and three different programmes available. Join as many of the programmes as you like, and get involved as much or as little as you want!

If you’re interested in sport (on the field or behind the scenes), Team Westminster Active can help you find a voluntary role with a sports club or physical activity group. Develop your skills, support sporting activity and have fun while you're doing it!
Volunteer in the heart of London at some of the capital’s most exciting events with the Team Westminster Ambassadors. West End LIVE!, the London Marathon and the Trooping of the Colour are just some of the opportunities available.
If you're strapped for time but want to make a difference in your local area, Social Action's one-off no-strings volunteering is ideal for you! Join Team Westminster Social Action for one-off volunteering opportunities like transforming your local park or organising a local street party.
Get involved in sports-related volunteering and play a key role in delivering or supporting sports sessions in Westminster. There are also lots of roles available helping with day-to-day activities without the need to participate in the sports themselves, including administration, finance, marketing and web development – perfect if you're looking for career experience.
You can talk to us face-to-face at one of our drop-ins. A drop-in is a chance for you to talk to us in person about any questions you have surrounding volunteering. There's no obligation, and it's entirely free.
Our drop-ins take place every Wednesday at two venues:
Team Westminster Active can support your sports or physical activity organisations and events to find volunteers. We can also provide training to help you manage, retain and develop your volunteers.
We can also support organisations in other ways, including:
You can also attend an organisation support surgery to meet with our Coordinator to talk to us about any of your volunteering needs or to find out how we can support you. Surgeries take place every alternate Thursday at Westminster Sports Unit, Paddington Recreation Ground, Randolph Avenue, Maida Vale W9 1PD. Book on Eventbrite
Join our friendly group of volunteers, the Team Westminster Ambassadors, who provide event and local information to members of the public at high profile events throughout Westminster. The Ambassadors act as on-the-ground eyes and ears, while being a friendly face to welcome visitors and occasionally lending a helping hand at large sporting, cultural and ceremonial events, as well as small-scale charity and community gatherings or walks. Meet people from all walks of life and showcase the best of the city, while having fun and making a valuable contribution to your community.
Once you have completed the registration form you will be invited to book an evening induction session. The next inductions are taking place on:
Please let us know if you have any accessibility issues or require any special adjustments so we can make arrangements for you - just email or phone us.
At the end of the induction we will sign you up for a first trial event. If your trial event is successful, you can sign up to the rest of the events as listed.
