School admission appeals

If it hasn't been possible to offer your child a place at your preferred school, you have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel. Read this step-by-step guide to help you in the appeal process.

An appeal form can be requested from the council, or the school if they organise their own appeals. For advice, please contact the admissions team in the first instance.

Appeals timetable for 2019 entry

The below timetables may not apply to all schools in Westminster or other council areas. Please check the timetable of the individual school you want to appeal to. 

Primary Reception Class appeals 2019

National Offer Day - 16 April 2019

Appeal forms for community primary schools are dispatched from 6 May 2019

Appeals to be lodged for community schools by 24 May 2019.

Appeal hearings scheduled throughout June/July 2019.

Secondary Transfer appeals 2019

National Offer Day - 1 March 2019

Appeals for schools administered by the council are dispatched from 1 April 2019.

Completed appeals to be lodged by 10 May 2019.

Appeal hearings scheduled throughout June/July 2019.
