Opposing proposed bus cuts in London

Big ben and red buses

Published: 15 July 2022

The Leader of the Council, Cllr Adam Hug, has written to Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps MP regarding the proposed bus cuts from TfL.

The proposed cuts will deal a devastating blow to some of the most vulnerable communities in Westminster if they go ahead as buses are a transport lifeline for so many, particularly during this unprecedented squeeze on the cost of living. In a time where we also want to promote more active travel in the borough through walking, cycling and public transport, cutting a vital mode of public transport makes this more difficult to do.

Please see the full letter from Cllr Hug below, urging the Government to enter in to positive negotiations about the long term support TfL urgently needs.

TfL's bus consultation has now closed. Thank you to everyone who filled it out.
