National Safeguarding day

Scams are schemes to con you out of your money. Find out about types of scam and how to spot and report scams. Look for signs to watch out for if you look after someone who could be vulnerable to scams.

Consumers lose approximately £9 billion to scams every year.

Don’t give out personal information (such as bank details or passwords), reply to text messages, download attachments or click on any links in emails if you’re not sure they’re genuine.

How to take a stand against scams:

  • say no to uninvited callers
  • be wise to rogue traders
  • don't feel pressured to make a decision
  • be wise to postal scams
  • keep personal details safe
  • research the companies you use
  • talk to someone you trust
  • report a scam
  • know you are not alone
